On July 17, 2026, the Machine Vision and Information Transfer Research Lab (MVIT Research Lab) of the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, Mahidol University (ICT Mahidol), participated in an exhibition and presented its innovation at the Innovation Showcase held as part of “Siriraj Healthkathon 2026.” The event took place at the Treepetch Conference Room on the 15th floor of the 100th Anniversary of Somdet Phra Srinagarindra Building, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University.
Organized under the theme “Shaping Wellbeing Across Aging: Fit and Reverse Frailty — A Day of Ideation, Prototyping, and Innovation for Older Adults,” the event was jointly hosted by the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, and the National Innovation Agency (Public Organization), or NIA. It provided a platform for exchanging ideas, developing prototypes, and advancing innovations that promote the health, well-being, and quality of life of older adults. The event also formed part of the initiative to advance the “Thailand Medical Innovation Hub,” which aims to integrate the capabilities of organizations within the medical innovation district and drive innovations from research and development toward practical implementation.
On this occasion, the MVIT Research Lab team, comprising Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nutcha Yodrabum, M.D.; Ms. Ploypan Seesun; and Mr. Kittikhun Thongkanchorn, Computer Technical Officer (Senior Professional Level), presented the “AI-Assisted Personalized Nasal Stent,” an innovation jointly developed by the Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, and the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, Mahidol University. The innovation applies artificial intelligence technology to assist in the modelling and design of personalized nasal stents that accurately correspond to the anatomical characteristics of individual patients. It is designed to enhance the effectiveness of postoperative care, reduce treatment costs, and contribute to improved surgical outcomes.
The innovation is part of the research project entitled “Development of Computer Program and Tool for Creating Custom 3D Models of Nasal Splints for Individual Cases,” a collaborative project between the Faculty of ICT and the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University. The research team comprises Assoc. Prof. Dr. Worapan Kusakunniran, Chair of the Doctor of Philosophy Program in Computer Science, and Head of the Medical Informatics Research Clusters (MI) and Machine Vision and Information Transfer Research Lab (MVIT), Faculty of ICT; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nutcha Yodrabum, M.D., and Dr. Irin Chaikangwan, M.D., Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital; Asst. Prof. Dr. Tipajin Thaipisutikul, Assistant to the President for Research and a faculty member of the Computer Science Academic Group, Faculty of ICT; Mr. Meta Limpiwan, an alumnus of the Master of Science Program in Game Technology and Gamification, Faculty of ICT; Mr. Kittikan Charornjai, a student in the Master of Science Program in Computer Science, Faculty of ICT; and Mr. Kittikhun Thongkanchorn, Computer Technical Officer (Senior Professional Level), Faculty of ICT, Mahidol University.
