On June 11, 2026, Prof. Piyamitr Sritara, MD, FRCP, President of Mahidol University, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dr. Phichet Phophakdee, Secretary-General of the Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC). The signing ceremony was witnessed by Dr. Pattanasak Mongkolwat, Dean of the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, Mahidol University (ICT Mahidol); Asst. Prof. Dr. Tipajin Thaipisutikul, Assistant to the President for Research, Mahidol University; Dr. Artitaya Panya, Deputy Secretary-General of OBEC; and Dr. Peeranud Chaipidech, Director of the Bureau of Educational Innovation Development, together with staff from both organizations. The ceremony was held at OBEC Conference Room 1, 2nd Floor, OBEC Building 4, Office of the Basic Education Commission.
On this occasion, Dr. Peeranud Chaipidech, Director of the Bureau of Educational Innovation Development, presented a report to the Secretary-General of OBEC and the President of Mahidol University. Following the report, Prof. Piyamitr Sritara, MD, FRCP, President of Mahidol University, delivered remarks on Mahidol University’s direction for the collaboration. Dr. Phichet Phophakdee, Secretary-General of OBEC, then delivered remarks on the collaboration framework from the perspective of the Office of the Basic Education Commission, prior to the signing of the MoU on academic collaboration.
The collaboration aims to develop and promote training programs and learning activities that enhance digital skills and foster innovative learning among administrators, teachers, educational personnel, and students under OBEC. These activities will be delivered through both on-site and online formats.
In addition, the collaboration is intended to extend Mahidol University’s knowledge and information technology resources to educational institutions across the country, while promoting joint research and innovation development in support of basic education. The partnership is expected to strengthen and sustain long-term collaboration between Mahidol University and OBEC.
The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding underscores the shared commitment of Mahidol University and the Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC) to advancing education through innovation and digital technology. The collaboration will help create a connected learning ecosystem that links universities, schools, teachers, students, public-sector organizations, and partner networks, paving the way for the sustainable development of Thailand’s digital human resources.
