On May 19, 2026, Dr. Pattanasak Mongkolwat, Dean of the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, Mahidol University (ICT Mahidol), together with Asst. Prof. Dr. Tipajin Thaipisutikul, Assistant to the President for Research, Mahidol University; Dr. Wannarat Suntiamorntut, Deputy Dean; Asst. Prof. Dr. Thanapon Noraset, Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs; Dr. Petch Sajjacholapunt, Deputy Dean for Administration and Human Resource; and Dr. Pisit Praiwattana, Assistant Dean for Organizational Communications and Media Technology, warmly welcomed delegates from Marquette University and Iowa State University, USA, on the occasion of their visit to ICT Mahidol for discussions on potential academic and research partnerships. The meeting was held at Meeting Room IT404, ICT Building, Mahidol University, Salaya Campus.
The delegates from Marquette University and Iowa State University included:
- Dr. Sheikh Iqbal Ahamed, Professor and Founding Chair of Computer Science Department, Marquette University, and Director of Ubicomp Lab
- Prof. Mohammad Zulkernine, Ph.D., P.Eng., Professor and Canada Research Chair, School of Computing, and Director of Queen’s Centre for Security and Privacy (QCSP)
- Prof. Carl K. Chang, Professor Emeritus, Iowa State University
The discussion provided an opportunity for both parties to exchange perspectives on strengthening academic and research collaboration in areas related to information technology. Both parties also explored potential collaborative activities, such as the establishment of joint research projects and the promotion of international academic partnerships.
Following the discussion, Dr. Pattanasak Mongkolwat led the delegates on a visit to the Mahidol-Bremen Medical Informatics Research Unit (MIRU Lab). On this occasion, Asst. Prof. Dr. Akara Supratak, Instructor in the Computer Science Academic Group, introduced collaborative research initiatives jointly conducted by ICT Mahidol and the University of Bremen, Federal Republic of Germany.
In addition, the delegates visited the Mahidol University Artificial Intelligence Center (MU AI Center), Prince Mahidol Hall, and the construction site of the Intelligent Digital Hub in Medicine (IDHM) project, located in the rugby–football field area behind the Nursing Student Dormitory, Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University, Salaya Campus.
The visit marked an important opportunity to strengthen the longstanding relationship between the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, Mahidol University, Marquette University, and Iowa State University. It also promoted knowledge exchange and fostered future academic and research collaboration among the institutions.
