The Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, Mahidol University (ICT Mahidol) would like to congratulate the 4th year students of the Bachelor of Science Program in Information and Communication Technology (ICT International Program), consisting of Mr. Natthaphat Pintip, Mr. Sittikorn Maneewong and Mr. Napat Jirataranon, on being shortlisted in the “Thailand New Gen Inventors Award 2026” (I–New Gen Award 2026), Higher Education level. Their project “Dental Caries Detection System for Panoramic Radiographs” is in the Artificial Intelligence and Smart Devices category and is supervised by Dr. Sirawich Vachmanus, Lecturer in the Computer Science Academic Group, ICT Mahidol, and Associate Professor Dr. Suchaya Damrongsri, Deputy Dean for Quality Development, Faculty of Dentistry, Mahidol University. The shortlist was officially announced on October 8, 2025.
The “Thailand New Gen Inventors Award 2026” competition is organized by National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT). Its objective is to encourage talented youth in research and innovation to utilize their potential in creating and developing new inventions and showcasing their work for further development and real-world application. The initiative also aims to establish mechanisms that connect these young individuals to career pathways as future researchers and innovators.
The competition consists of two rounds. The first round was an online screening. Finalists will give on-stage presentations before a panel of judges, take part in a Q&A session, and exhibit their projects in the exhibition zone at “Inventors’ Day 2026,” which will be held from 5 – 9 January 2026 at Event Halls 100–104, Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre (BITEC), Bangna, Bangkok.
Advancing to the final round marks another significant milestone for the students as they develop health-related technology, combining creativity with academic rigor and showing strong potential for industry application.
