On September 18, 2026, the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, Mahidol University (ICT Mahidol), led by Dr. Pattanasak Mongkolwat, Dean; Dr. Wannarat Suntiamorntut, Deputy Dean; and the Faculty’s executive team, together with Professor Piyamitr Sritara, M.D., FRCP, President of Mahidol University, and the University’s executive team, attended the press conference on the establishment of the “AI Innovation and Technology Center” and the launch of the “AI Innovation for Manufacturing” project. The initiative is a collaboration among the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), Mahidol University, and the Program Management Unit for Frontier Brainpower and Future Industries (PMU-B), under the Research and Innovation Acceleration Agency for Competitiveness and Area Development (Public Organization) (RCAD). The event was held at Meeting Room 802, 8th Floor, the Federation of Thai Industries.
During the press conference, Ms. Pimjai Leeissaranukul, Chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries, delivered welcoming remarks to executives, representatives from partner organizations, and participants. Dr. Wannarat Suntiamorntut, Deputy Dean of ICT Mahidol and Project Leader, then introduced the AI Innovation and Technology Center and presented its operational framework, which aims to connect AI knowledge, technologies, and innovations with practical applications in the industrial sector.
On this occasion, Professor Piyamitr Sritara, M.D., FRCP, President of Mahidol University, expressed Mahidol University’s commitment to supporting the development of AI innovations to enhance the country’s competitiveness. Dr. Nirawat Thammajak, Director of the Program Management Unit for Frontier Brainpower and Future Industries (PMU-B), highlighted support for the application of AI innovations to improve manufacturing processes in Thai industries. Meanwhile, Ms. Pimjai Leeissaranukul reaffirmed FTI’s commitment to supporting the establishment of the Center and promoting the adoption of AI innovations to strengthen the capabilities of Thailand’s manufacturing enterprises.
Following the press conference, executives from the three partner organizations took part in a group photo session and gave interviews to the media. They also visited a showcase of promising Thai AI solutions with the potential for further support, demonstrating how AI technologies can be further developed and applied to create tangible benefits for the manufacturing sector.
This collaboration marked another important step in integrating the strengths of academia, industry, and research and innovation funding organizations to promote the development and practical application of AI technologies, address the needs of the manufacturing sector, support the translation of innovation into real-world applications, and enhance the competitiveness of Thai industry.
