On June 9, 2026, the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, Mahidol University (ICT Mahidol), led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Thanapon Noraset, Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs; Asst. Prof. Dr. Mores Prachyabrued, Chair of the Master of Science Program in Game Technology and Gamification; and Prof. Dr. Peter Haddawy, Global Talent Professor, welcomed a delegation from the University of Texas at Austin, USA, on the occasion of their visit to explore opportunities for academic and research collaboration. The discussion was held at the Mahidol-Bremen Medical Informatics Research Unit (MIRU Lab), ICT Building, Mahidol University, Salaya Campus, and via the Webex online platform.

The discussion focused on providing an overview of the Texas Global–Mahidol University Seed Fund, a key initiative that supports the development of academic and research collaboration between the University of Texas at Austin and Mahidol University. The meeting also provided an opportunity for participants to exchange views on current and future joint research opportunities, particularly the collaboration between the Biomedical Engineering Program at the University of Texas at Austin and the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, Mahidol University, in areas related to information technology, digital health, medical artificial intelligence (AI), and the application of digital technologies to support health research and innovation.
Furthermore, both institutions explored implementation strategies to advance the collaboration in a tangible and sustainable manner. The areas of discussion included the development of joint research initiatives, the engagement of researchers and research teams with complementary expertise, knowledge exchange between the two institutions, and the planning of future academic and research activities.
The visit and discussions underscored ICT Mahidol’s commitment to strengthening and expanding its network of partnerships with leading international universities. Such collaborations play a vital role in advancing research, innovation, and knowledge development in information technology and health-related technologies, with the ultimate goal of creating broader societal impact.
