On July 16–17, 2026, the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, Mahidol University (ICT Mahidol), organized the “2026 Basic Firefighting Training and Drill” as part of its Safety, Occupational Health, and Workplace Environment Program. The activity was conducted for staff members and first-year students from the Bachelor of Science in Information and Communication Technology (ICT International Program) and the Bachelor of Science in Digital Science and Technology (DST Thai Program) at the ICT Building, Mahidol University, Salaya Campus.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Dr. Pattanasak Mongkolwat, Dean of the Faculty of ICT, Mahidol University, who welcomed the participants and presented souvenirs to the teams of instructors from the Krathumlom Municipality Office, Nakhon Pathom Province, and Shinaracha Frotector Co., Ltd. The souvenirs were presented in recognition of their contributions to providing knowledge and practical training throughout the two-day activity.
The training was divided into two main sessions, providing participants with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. The morning session focused on the fundamentals of basic firefighting, the causes and elements of fire, and appropriate fire prevention and suppression procedures. The afternoon session featured hands-on training in essential emergency response skills, including the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED), emergency first aid and casualty transportation, fire extinguisher operation, and simulated emergency scenarios designed to develop survival skills and appropriate responses in emergency situations.
At the conclusion of the activity, Lect. Snit Sanghlao, Assistant Dean for Engineering and Environment, who also serves as Director of the Faculty of ICT’s Fire Prevention and Suppression Plan, delivered the closing remarks. He emphasized the importance of emergency preparedness and encouraged participants to apply the knowledge and skills gained from the training in real-life emergency situations.
The “2026 Basic Firefighting Training and Drill” is one of the annual activities organized under the 2026 Safety, Occupational Health, and Workplace Environment Program by the Safety, Occupational Health, and Workplace Environment Working Group. The program aims to enhance knowledge and awareness of occupational safety, health, and workplace environmental practices in accordance with the Faculty of ICT’s Safety, Occupational Health, and Workplace Environment Policy. It is designed to equip staff members and students with the knowledge and understanding necessary to respond appropriately to real-life emergencies. The activity was conducted in compliance with Mahidol University’s Announcement on Safety, Occupational Health, and Workplace Environment Policies and Guidelines B.E. 2564 (2021), as well as its Fire Prevention and Suppression Measures B.E. 2563 (2020).
