ICT Mahidol Organized the “Mahidol Hackathon 2026 Training Workshops”

During February 21 – 22, 2026, the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, Mahidol University (ICT Mahidol), organized the “Mahidol Hackathon 2026 Training Workshops” as part of the Mahidol Hackathon 2026 competition, themed “DeepTech for the Smarter Campus: Driving Sustainable Innovation with Environmental Impact.” The workshops aimed to prepare ten selected student teams to develop DeepTech competencies and refine their ideas into innovative “Smarter Campus” solutions that emphasize sustainability and environmental impact through hands-on learning activities. The event was held at the IT104 Computer Laboratory, ICT Building, Mahidol University, Salaya Campus.

On February 21, 2026, a hands-on workshop session was conducted under the themes “AI Solutions for a Smart, Sustainable, Intelligent Environments” and “Data-Driven Decision Making for Smart Operations.” The session was led by Dr. Sirawich Vachmanus, an instructor in the Computer Science Academic Group, who served as the main speaker, with support from Mr. Chawanagorn Sujintawong, a student in the Master of Science Program in Computer Science, as a teaching assistant. The training emphasized practical learning in AI applications and data-driven approaches to analysis, planning, and decision-making, aiming to support the development of intelligent environments and systematic, sustainable resource management.

On February 22, 2026, a hands-on workshop titled “Deep IoT Smart Monitor: Weather and Satellite Image Processing for Air Quality” was conducted. The session featured Mr. Sawangpong Muadphet, Chief Technology Officer of Komomi Co., Ltd., as the guest speaker, who shared insights into the integration of Internet of Things (IoT) technologies with Artificial Intelligence (AI) for real-time weather and air quality monitoring and analysis. The workshop highlighted the use of smart sensors and satellite image processing to support environmental monitoring, risk alert systems, and effective environmental management planning, contributing to sustainable urban development and an improved quality of life.

Mahidol Hackathon 2026 aims to encourage Mahidol University students to apply deep technology (DeepTech) to develop innovations for a smarter campus that is sustainable and environmentally friendly. The program provides a platform for students from various faculties to integrate multidisciplinary knowledge and address real challenges faced by the University through an innovation-driven hackathon, while also cultivating sustainability awareness in line with the Mahidol SDGs. In addition, the initiative fosters an innovation culture and cross-faculty collaboration among the Faculty of ICT, the Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies (EN), Mahidol University International College (IC), and the Institute for Technology and Innovation Management (iNT). It also supports the advancement of innovations from the competition toward real-world implementation within the University, broader community impact, or commercial development in partnership with external organizations.

The Mahidol Hackathon 2026 final competition is scheduled to be held on March 21, 2026, at the Faculty of ICT, Mahidol University, Salaya Campus.
