On April 9, 2026, the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, Mahidol University (ICT Mahidol), led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Morakot Choetkiertikul and Asst. Prof. Dr. Chaiyong Ragkhitwetsagul, instructors in the Computer Science Academic Group and members of the Software Engineering and Business Analytics Research Clusters (SEBA), who also serve as instructors for ITCS383: Software Construction and Evolution, organized a special lecture under the topic “From Junior Dev to Tech Lead: Lessons from the Field.”
The event was honored by guest speakers from ATA IT Limited, a subsidiary of the National Bank of Canada, including Mr. Methas Pattarakampol; Ms. Chanyanan Sethpitak (ICT Mahidol alumna, Batch 5), Team Lead Scrum Master; and Mr. Krit Ngamchokchaijaroen, Scrum Master. During the session, the speakers shared their real-world professional experiences working in large international organizations with third-year students in the Bachelor of Science in Information and Communication Technology (ICT International Program). The lecture took place in Room IT321, 3rd floor, ICT Building, Mahidol University, Salaya Campus.
The lecture provided an overview of career growth in the technology industry, from Junior Developer to Tech Lead, highlighting challenges, obstacles, mistakes, and key lessons learned at each stage of the professional journey. These insights were intended to guide students in their personal development and future career planning. In addition, a key highlight of the lecture was the introduction to career pathways in Agile, together with guidance on applying Agile practices in global organizations. The session also clarified the roles and responsibilities of a Scrum Master and highlighted the differences among the roles of Scrum Master, Developer, and Tech Lead.
Furthermore, the speakers highlighted essential skills for those interested in pursuing this career path, including team facilitation, sprint management, conflict resolution, and the ability to enable teams to work effectively and deliver results consistently. They also provided guidance on preparing for the job market, emphasizing the importance of both technical competencies valued by employers and soft skills such as teamwork and communication in a professional software development environment.
The activity represented a valuable opportunity for students interested in technology and software development careers to gain practical insights and perspectives from industry professionals, which can support effective future career planning.
