On April 27, 2026, the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, Mahidol University (ICT Mahidol), organized the “Innovation Challenge for Green ICT Faculty 2026” under the concept “Turning Ideas into Innovation for a Sustainable ICT Faculty” in Room IT303. The competition aimed to provide an opportunity for ICT Mahidol students and staff members to propose creative ideas, inventions, technologies, software programs, and group activities that can be further developed and practically implemented to support the Faculty’s transformation into an environmentally friendly and sustainable organization.
The activity was designed to encourage participation among the ICT Mahidol community in creating green innovations that address efficient resource management within the organization. The competition covered four main categories: Energy Efficiency, focusing on reducing electrical peak load, energy-saving innovations, and the use of clean energy; Smart Water Flow, focusing on water recycling, leakage detection systems, and reducing water consumption in buildings; Waste to Wealth, focusing on food waste management, AI-powered waste sorting, and plastic waste classification; and Carbon Capture, focusing on increasing green spaces, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and calculating carbon footprints.
The event featured ICT Mahidol faculty members and staff serving as judges and providing valuable feedback to support the further development of the projects toward practical implementation. The judging committee included Dr. Pawitra Liamruk, Deputy Dean for Organizational Development and Special Affairs; Dr. Wannarat Suntiamorntut, Deputy Dean; Dr. Sakuna Charoenpanyasak, an instructor in the Computer Science Academic Group; and Mr. Virat Direkpoke, Head of Engineering and Facilities Division.
On this occasion, ICT Mahidol would like to congratulate the winning teams in each category. Each team received a cash prize of 2,500 baht, together with a certificate, and will receive support to implement their projects within the Faculty as follows:
- Energy Efficiency Category: Team “Power and Environment Management System”, comprising Mr. Puwadech Intakot, Engineering and Facilities Division; Mr.Tamakorn Jiamrachada, Technology Infrastructure Division; and Mr. Jirawat Pratuangtip, second-year DST student.
- Smart Water Flow Category: Team “ICTeens,” comprising Ms. Nuha Choeiiam, Ms. Lalana Jumpathong, Mr. Pattaraphon Ngamlertdanai, Mr. Warisorn Rangsiyavaranont, and Ms. Monsiri Yutthasarnsenee, all first-year ICT students. The team was advised by Dr. Pisit Praiwattana, Assistant Dean for Organizational Communications and Media Technology.
- Waste to Wealth Category: Team “Tao yiep lok – EcoSmart Piezoelectric Block,” comprising Ms. Thananchanok Chuensan, second-year DST student, and Ms. Tamonwan Chamnanward, second-year ICT student. The team was advised by Dr. Kanthanet Tharot, an instructor in the Computer Science Academic Group.
- Carbon Capture Category: Team “Snap-Green,” comprising Ms. Thitiworada Moleechart, second-year DST student, and Mr. Ongsa Raksalam, third-year ICT student. The team was advised by Dr. Sirawich Vachmanus, an instructor in the Computer Science Academic Group.
The Innovation Challenge for Green ICT Faculty 2026 reflects ICT Mahidol’s commitment to driving the organization toward sustainability by providing a platform for students and staff members to apply their knowledge in technology, innovation, and creativity to address environmental challenges and improve resource management within the organization in a practical and tangible manner. This initiative is part of ICT Mahidol’s continued efforts to promote sustainable growth for the future.
