From 18 February to 19 March 2026, the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, Mahidol University (ICT Mahidol) warmly welcomed exchange students from Osaka Institute of Technology (OIT), Japan. The exchange students included Mr. Shinichiro Akamatsu, a first-year master’s degree student, and Mr. Harutaka Tanabe, a second-year bachelor’s degree student, who participated in a one-month academic exchange programme at ICT Mahidol, Mahidol University, Salaya Campus.
During the exchange period, both students worked on a research project in collaboration with third-year students from the Bachelor of Science in Information and Communication Technology (ICT International Program) of the Faculty of ICT, namely Mr. Nattachai Mingrattikorn, Mr. Saharat Nicharavisutt, and Mr. Chanachon Rimcharoen. The project was carried out under the close supervision of instructors from the Computer Science Academic Group, including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vasaka Visoottiviseth and Asst. Prof. Dr. Dolvara Guna-Tilaka, together with Mr. Phichate Sukklay, Engineer, Engineering and Facilities Division, in collaboration with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Shigeru Kashihara.
Apart from the academic exchange activities, the students also participated in activities organized by the Japan Club, including the “Tea Ceremony and Origami” workshop. In addition, they attended the Advanced Public Speaking class taught by Mr. Brian Marcar, an English instructor, together with students from the ICT International Program, to further strengthen their communication skills and promote cultural exchange.
On this occasion, the Faculty of ICT would like to express its sincere appreciation to the Global Partnerships Division, Mahidol University, for providing financial support through the “Scholarship for Accommodation for Exchange Students and Visiting Professors 2026,” which supported the two Japanese students throughout their exchange period in Thailand.
The Faculty of ICT sincerely hopes that both students gained valuable experiences, knowledge, and meaningful friendships from this exchange programme.
