ICT Mahidol Welcomed Delegates from Florida International University (FIU), USA, to Discuss Academic Collaboration

On August 11 and 13, 2026, Dr. Pattanasak Mongkolwat, Dean of the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, Mahidol University (ICT Mahidol), together with the Faculty’s executives and faculty members, welcomed Prof. Dr. Khokiat Kengskool, Professor of Practice and Director of International Programs for Southeast Asia, College of Engineering and Computing (CEC), Florida International University (FIU), USA, and Dr. Nonnarit O-Larnnithipong, Assistant Teaching Professor, Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, CEC, FIU, USA. They were accompanied by Dr. Pasd Putthapipat, Director of Data Innovation at Infinitas by Krungthai and an FIU alumnus. The delegation visited the Faculty to exchange knowledge and discuss potential academic collaboration and educational opportunities between the two institutions. The meeting was held in Room IT404, ICT Mahidol, Salaya Campus.

On August 11, 2026, the FIU delegation delivered a seminar entitled “AI Applications, ICT Curriculum Enhancement / ABET” in Room IT404. ICT Mahidol executives and faculty members participated in an exchange of perspectives on the applications of artificial intelligence (AI), the development of information and communication technology curricula, and approaches related to ABET standards. In the afternoon, the FIU delegation met with first- to fourth-year undergraduate students and graduate students in Room IT405 to introduce Florida International University and provide information about scholarships and funding opportunities for pursuing master’s and doctoral degrees, as well as opportunities for doctoral study at FIU.

On August 13, 2026, executives and faculty members from ICT Mahidol and representatives from FIU held a meeting in Room IT404 to discuss potential directions for academic collaboration, with a focus on advancing cooperation in education, curriculum development, and research between the two institutions. That afternoon, the FIU delegation met with Professor Dr. Nopraenue Sajjarax Dhirathiti, Vice President for Global Partnerships and University Council, Mahidol University, at the Khunying Patama Leeswadtrakul Meeting Room, Office of the President, Mahidol University, to discuss areas of future collaboration. Following the meeting, the delegation visited the Mahidol-Bremen Medical Informatics Research Unit (MIRU Lab). Asst. Prof. Dr. Mores Prachyabrued, Chair of the Master of Science Program in Game Technology and Gamification, welcomed the delegation and introduced the research laboratory’s activities and operations. The delegation then visited the ICT building and the construction site of the Intelligent Digital Hub in Medicine (IDHM) project, a center designed to integrate smart digital technologies, the economy, learning, innovation, and artificial intelligence for medicine. The construction site is located on the Rugby – Football field behind Ramathibodi Hospital Nursing Student Dormitories at Mahidol University, Salaya Campus.

This visit provided an excellent opportunity for the two institutions to exchange knowledge and experiences in teaching and learning, curriculum development, artificial intelligence technologies, and research. It also provided a valuable platform for discussing ways to strengthen collaboration and create future educational opportunities for students and personnel from both institutions.
